Hailing from Cracow, Poland, MAW is a dynamic and heavy-hitting band that fuses the groove-driven spirit of the ’90s Palm Desert scene with their own unique sonic identity. Formed in 2019, the band quickly carved a name for themselves with their loud and energetic riff-based jams, which soon evolved into powerful songs that resonated with live audiences.
In November 2019, after just a few months together, MAW embarked on a journey to Vintage Record Studio in Poznań, where they recorded six tracks over an intense three-day session. However, the release of their debut album faced significant delays due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, finally seeing the light of day in January 2021, more than a year after its completion.
The pandemic also brought changes to the band’s lineup, with drummer Michał Gawroński departing in the summer of 2020. His replacement, Szymon Piotrowski, brought fresh energy to the group, leading to the release of the ‘Citizens of Dunes’ single and video. With Piotrowski on board, MAW’s sound continued to evolve, combining heavy grooves with captivating melodies.
Now, MAW is focused on crafting new material, promising fresh, groove-laden tracks that will expand their sonic horizons while staying true to their desert rock-inspired roots.
