NEW ENGLAND HEAVY METAL band MOURN THE LIGHT has been delivering their unique brand of metal to the world since 2018. Following the release of their debut EP “Weight of the World” and a split EP with OXBLOOD FORGE, the band recorded their critically acclaimed full-length debut album, “Suffer, Then We’re Gone,” which led to a worldwide deal with ARGONAUTA RECORDS (Italy). Over time, their sound has evolved from a doom-heavy style to a more traditional, almost power-metal sound, while still maintaining elements of doom.
In the years since, MOURN THE LIGHT released the follow-up EP “Stare into the Face of Death,” which garnered further praise from critics in the underground metal scene. The band has toured extensively across the United States and Canada during their six-year career and has made notable festival appearances at NEW ENGLAND STONER AND DOOM FESTIVAL, SXSW STONER JAM, STORMBRINGER METAL FESTIVAL, RPM FEST, and LEGIONS OF METAL FEST. They’ve also shared the stage with prominent metal acts, including ARTILLERY, ANVIL, HAUNT, THE OBSESSED, CLOVEN HOOF, EXTINCTION AD, IRONFLAME, and others.
In 2024, while preparing for their next full-length album, the band experienced a lineup change with the departure of vocalist ANDREW STACHELEK. MOURN THE LIGHT quickly brought in new vocalist ANDY SMALL (of SPELLMASTER and OLYPHANT) and pressed forward with recording their new material and playing select live shows. To introduce their new vocalist, the band plans to release an EP titled “The Magic is Calling” on ARGONAUTA RECORDS. This EP will feature the new single “False Prophecies,” two re-recorded MOURN THE LIGHT tracks with Andy on vocals, and a cover of the TONY MARTIN-era BLACK SABBATH classic, “Headless Cross.”
