Italian Eclectic Heavy Rockers PLASTICDROP Sign to Octopus Rising / Argonauta; New Single Out Now

The Italian Eclectic Heavy Rock band PLASTICDROP, hailing from Cagliari, has signed with Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records to release their highly anticipated full-length debut album.

“Plasticdrop are thrilled to announce that they’ve just joined the roster of Argonauta Records. Such a big change for a band that has always believed in the DIY, we’ve looked at the opportunities offered by this collaboration, and considered our admiration for this particular label we decided to sign with them, and we’re really happy about it” – says the band

To celebrate their signing, the band is thrilled to unveil their new single, “Death (Not For You),” now available on YouTube:

Band comments on the single:
“Death is the most direct track of the album.

It sounds rough, fast and distorted, reflecting the main theme of the lyrics. It talks about how delicate can be the mental satus of a person when the first symptoms of depression show up. Suicide is a repeated topic throughout the album, as the band has been deeply touched by the recent loss of a close friend. Death is a loud cry for help, the description of a deep distress too often ignored or underestimated by too busy people.”

Plasticdrop lineup consists of Paolo Pani (lead vocals, guitar), Martina Manca (bass) and Alessandro Brundu (drums).

The members of Plasticdrop met while playing at the same studio with different bands, as teenagers. The guitarist and singer and the bassist had some common friends, the drummer was younger but already known among the local bands. Martina and Alessandro started playing together in an alternative band called Wornout, while Paolo used to play the bass guitar in another project “Speedy rocky”. Paolo had some acoustic tracks and decided to share them with Alessandro, they agreed in choosing Martina as the perfect bass player for the project.

The band made their first public performance in March 2016. After achieving a local following with their gigs, they released the first ep in 2019, “Phenicopters”, five years before the album’s recording.

In October 2024 they released the first single “Life” taken from their forthcoming album, whose complete details will be revealed soon.

Plasticdrop has been labeled primarily as alternative rock, post grunge, hard rock; several tracks also incorporate elements of stoner rock and punk rock.

The new tracks melt melodic and heavy elements. Their lyrics cover a wide range of topics, like personal relationships, the feeling of isolation related to the island where they come from and the degradation of the society in general. The band would explore a new direction on this album, pursuing a new, rawer, sometimes gloomy sound.
