US Traditional Doom Metal Band Mourn the Light Announce New EP; Black Sabbath Cover Now Available
US traditional doom metal band Mourn the Light has set January 10th, 2025 as the international release date for the new EP, The Magic is Calling. Today, the band unveils the album details, accompanied by an impressive cover of Black Sabbath’s “Headless Cross”.

MOURN THE LIGHT have since released the follow up EP “Stare into the Face of Death” which found more praise from critics in the world of underground metal. MOURN THE LIGHT have toured the US and CANADA over their 6 years of existence and have made festival appearances at NEW ENGLAND STONER AND DOOM FESTIVAL, SXSW STONER JAM, STORMBRINGER METAL FESTIVAL, RPM FEST, and LEGIONS OF METAL FEST, not to mention several opening slots for notable metal acts including ARTILLERY, ANVIL, HAUNT, THE OBSESSED, CLOVEN HOOF, EXTINCTION AD, IRONFLAME and 1 more.
In 2024 the band saw the departure of vocalist ANDREW STACHELEK while prepping their next full-length album. MOURN THE LIGHT quickly recruited vocalist ANDY SMALL (SPELLMASTER, OLYPHANT) and continued with the new album and are playing select shows. Mourn the Light plan to release an EP to introduce the new vocalist, while they continue recording the new full length, on ARGONAUTA RECORDS called “The Magic is Calling”. This EP will include new single “False Prophecies”, two older MTL songs with Andy on vocals, and a cover of the TONY MARTIN era BLACK SABBATH song “Headless Cross. The EP will be available on CD and digital everywhere.
